We can help you learn more about the Parts of Medicare

Medicare Part A

Original Medicare Part A is often called “hospital insurance,” Medicare Part A covers lab tests, surgeries, and care for inpatient facilities like hospitals, skilled nursing facilities, hospice care, home health care, and long-term care facilities. Original Medicare Part A is usually $0 for most people (because they or a spouse paid Medicare taxes long enough while working – generally 10 years.)

Medicare Part B

Original Medicare Part B provides medical insurance to cover the costs of services from doctors and specialists, outpatient care, home health care, and durable medical equipment. Part B usually costs $169.40 monthly (or higher, depending on your income). The amount you pay for Original Medicare Part B can change each year.

Medicare Part C

Also known as Medicare Advantage plans, these are private plans approved by Medicare. These plans are required to provide the same level of coverage for Original Medicare Part A & Part B services. These plans also sometimes include coverage for prescription drugs, dental & vision and offer other benefits for members.

Medicare Part D

Medicare Part D prescription drug plans help cover the cost of your prescription medications, may lower your costs, and protect against higher costs. There are two ways beneficiaries get prescription drug coverage with Medicare. You can get a stand-alone Part D plan or you can opt to get a Medicare Advantage plan that includes drug coverage.

Medigap Policies

Medigap policies, or also known as Medicare Supplement insurance plans, are a type of coverage that you can purchase alongside Original Medicare Part A & Part B. Medigap policies do just as their name implies: they fill in the “gaps” and cover the out-of-pocket costs left behind by Original Medicare Part A & Part B. Medigap policies are standardized by letter names, such as Plan G.
